With our second year coming to a close, I have taken some time to reflect on our statistics and am pleased to announce my findings! We are taking steps in the right direction! Montessori Children’s House of Bay City started as a thought many years ago and was not acted upon until the early spring of 2014. Once we knew it was going to take shape and hold, all the pieces of the puzzle began to fall into place. One decision after another felt totally right and the school “thought” began it’s motion turning the little dream into reality. Doors opened in September of 2014 for a morning class with a class size of 7. We maintained an average of 8 students throughout the year, 5 boys and 3 girls ages ranging from 2 1/2 to 5 years old ending the school year. As we began to think about the fall, we made the decision to offer a full-time program meeting the needs of the families in the bay area with two parents working as well as those looking for half day programs. We began the fall of 2015 with 9 students, a retention rate from the previous year of 50% and had 5 boys and 4 girls ranging from 2 1/2 – 4 years of age. Going into January 2016, mid-year, we saw a spike in enrollment and went from 9 to 15 students, 9 boys and 6 girls. As we close this year with a class size of 15 3 to 5 year olds, we are retaining 80% of students eligible to re-enroll for fall! Even more exciting is that as of today we have 18 students enrolled for fall ranging in age 2 1/2 to 5 years old, which in essence means we have a full range of students meeting the novice (1st year,) apprentice (2nd year) and leadership (3rd year) roles in the classroom. 11 boys and 7 girls. This is incredibly humbling as it is due to the wonderful families and staff of MCH and their dedication and passion for Montessori education. It is exciting to have this option to offer the good people of the bay area and we look forward to many years to come! At this point we have grown to a point where we will be hiring an additional morning assistant and an afternoon assistant. We also have 8 spots left in the morning class and 9 spots in the afternoon and will continue to enroll through this summer so call to make your appointment for a personal tour today! See what the Montessori difference is all about!
